The Irony of the Walker Win
While I have never credited Obama with being a smart guy, I have to say, I think he is growing more intelligent by the day. Wisely, he stayed away from the massacre that he must have seen coming in Wisconsin. The irony of the whole recall is that the unions WANTED and STARTED the recall. Where is the irony in that you ask? Simple. The democrats believed that they would easily knock Governor Walker out of his governorship. This in turn would allow a new democratic governor to overturn all of the reforms Governor Walker had put in place. In addition, it would give a big warning to any other governor who might get the idea of rolling back union power for the ultimate good of the state. The plan seems simple enough, it is Wisconsin, which is at the end of the day, a strong bastion for the liberal party.
Surprisingly, the people of Wisconsin have noticed that Governor Walker has indeed been successful in his rebuilding of the financial conditions of the state. They noticed that the unemployment rate is falling. They noticed that the deficit has become a surplus. Now comes the worst part for the unions, the RECKONING. Now governors will feel INSPIRED to balance their state budgets by giving the unions a nice haircut. In addition to that, union membership in Wisconsin has FALLEN since Governor Walker made it OK NOT TO BE FORCED to pay union dues. Remember, the union would forcibly take its dues directly out of paychecks. It seems that a large amount of union members have decided that they are better equipped to decide how to spend their money, rather than sending it to union bosses who then spend the money on democrat campaigns. Nice job democrats! You destroyed the very thing you were out to protect, and have likely turned a blue-state, RED!
