SC Election Day: Mika Tries To Stop Scarborough From Mentioning Dem’s Anti-Haley Slur
On Election Day in South Carolina, as Republican Mark Sanford seeks to regain his old congressional seat, Mika Brzezinski did her best to stop Joe Scarborough from mentioning an ugly slur that the Chairman of the state's Democratic party had made against Republican Governor Nikki Haley.
Former South Carolina Democratic Chairman Dick Harpootlian was caught in controversy this week as he pledged to send Haley—daughter of Indian immigrants—"back to wherever the hell she came from.” According to the Morning Joe panel, Harpootlian has apologized for that remark. But Harpootlian has never apologized for his 2012 remark, comparing Haley with Adolf Hitler's mistress Eva Braun. When Scarborough began to cite that slur, Mika sought to silence him. Brzezinski actually resorted to the schoolkid technique of repeating "bah, bah, bah, bah" in order to drown Scarborough out, adding "we don't need to repeat it." View the video after the jump.
Joe Scarborough: GOP Supports ‘Rapist’s Rights Over Parent’s Rights’
Joe Scarborough’s vitriolic language against conservatives appears to have entered a fever pitch on April 8, as the MSNBC host disgustingly asserted that the GOP cares more about a rapist’s rights than parent’s rights. The faux conservative host of Morning Joe made such a charge in his attack on Republicans planning to filibuster a federal gun control bill.
Scarborough, who along with the rest of MSNBC -- save S.E. Cupp -- has been on a gun-control tirade over the past several months, on their show Monday ranted that:
We’ve got an issue that is a 92-7 issue and I can't believe that Republicans, first of all, aren't going to support it but, secondly won't let background checks against rapists, people who have committed manslaughter in the past, people with mental illness, dangerous mental illness. MSNBC’s Morning Joe Takes The Side Of The White House Against Woodward
Bob Woodward is a legend in modern journalism, especially for fellow liberal reporters. But that all is for naught now that Woodward has committed the cardinal sin of criticizing the White House for an operative's use of what apparently is a fairly common tactic: a harsh bullying of the press in order to demand even more favorable coverage than the Obama-friendly press already lavishes on Team Obama. It centers on Woodward reporting that sequestration was the White House's idea. This morning Matt Lauer, on the Today Show, questioned Woodward's judgement, saying "I'm a little surprised you've gone public with this." Even, the New York Times offered no refuge for Woodward.
He isn’t the only one. Clinton operative and op-ed columnist Lanny Davis has received similar treatment, and veteran White House reporter Ron Fournier at National Journal also reported threatening emails and calls. But in today’s broadcast of Morning Joe, co-host Mika Brzezinski decided to give deference to Obama acolyte David Axelrod’s days as a journalist for the Chicago Tribune in order to portray Woodward as going over the line in his reporting on Gene Sperling's harassment:
MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough: I’m Not A RINO, I’m Mr. Cut
Joe Scarborough often riles up conservatives for his continual trashing of his fellow Republicans, but his most recent claim might be a new low for the MSNBC conservative. Appearing on Morning Joe on Wednesday January 23, Scarborough insisted that he was not a Republican-in-name-only (RINO), but instead is more conservative than most in Congress.
Scarborough, who NewsBusters has repeatedly documented slamming conservatives, suddenly views himself as the epitome of conservative values. Earlier this month, Scarborough made similar comments when he claimed to be a, “really conservative guy.” Addressing the usual all-liberal MSNBC panel on today's Morning Joe, Scarborough argued that he is “Mr. Cut.” [See video after jump. Once Again, MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough Slams Republicans as ‘Extreme’
It seems a day cannot go by without Joe Scarborough slamming Republicans as extreme and out of touch with middle America. Appearing on Morning Joe on January 14, Scarborough took to chastising Republicans for going, “so far right and so extreme that they lost middle-America” and potentially ceasing to “be a player in presidential politics.”
Scarborough’s comments came a day after General Colin Powell’s comments on Meet the Press where he accused the Republican Party of being intolerant towards minorities. Scarborough went on a long rant against Republicans by associating fringe groups with the general sentiments of the party:
Math Is Hard: People Flee Workforce, But ‘Morning Joe’ Sees ‘Good News’
MSNBC broadcasts often have a “Twilight Zone” feel to them, but seldom more so than the Sept. 7, “Morning Joe.” Joe Scarborough and friends' reaction to the “weak” August jobs report was enthusiasm.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics announced that morning that only 96,000 jobs were created, after 120,000 jobs were expected. The BLS also revised June and July numbers downward. The unemployment rate fell to 8.1 percent, which might sound good until you learn that it “came primarily because the labor force participation rate fell to 63.5 percent, its worst level in more than 30 years,” according to CNBC.com. Mika Brzezinski: ‘I’m Hoping’ Blaming Bush Will Work
We've gone from "hope and change" to hoping blaming Bush will work. As Joe Scarborough said: at least Mika Brzezinski's honest about it. Asked whether she believed that President Obama's attempt to continue to blame George W. Bush for the country's economic woes will work as a campaign strategy, a seemingly dispirited Mika Brzezinski replied: "well, I'm hopin'". Scarborough burst into laughter.
The Morning Joe panel was responding to a clip of President Obama from yesterday in which he analogized Republicans to people who had ordered an expensive restaurant meal, left just as Obama was sitting down to dinner, and then finding himself accused of running up the tab. Watch Mika's forlorn response. Looks like we've gone from "hope and change" to Dems listlessly hoping that a pass-the-buck, blame-the-other-guy strategy might work for President Obama. After playing the clip of President Obama's restaurant analogy, Willie Geist and Mike Barnicle expressed skepticism that it would be a successful campaign strategy for PBO. Joe Scarborough then turned to Mika.
JOE SCARBOROUGH: What do you think, Mika? Do you think, do you think it'll work: blaming George Bush?
MIKA BRZEZINSKI: A-h-h-h, well, I'm hopin'. But I think it's a tough sell. And I still don't know what the freakin' metaphor is --
SCARBOROUGH [bursting into laughter]: At least she's honest about it!
