While I have never credited Obama with being a smart guy, I have to say, I think he is growing more intelligent by the day. Wisely, he stayed away from the massacre that he must have seen coming in Wisconsin. The irony of the whole recall is that the unions WANTED and STARTED the recall. Where is the irony in that you ask? Simple. The democrats believed that they would easily knock Governor Walker out of his governorship. This in turn would allow a new democratic governor to overturn all of the reforms Governor Walker had put in place. In addition, it would give a big warning to any other governor who might get the idea of rolling back union power for the ultimate good of the state. The plan seems simple enough, it is Wisconsin, which is at the end of the day, a strong bastion for the liberal party.
Surprisingly, the people of Wisconsin have noticed that Governor Walker has indeed been successful in his rebuilding of the financial conditions of the state. They noticed that the unemployment rate is falling. They noticed that the deficit has become a surplus. Now comes the worst part for the unions, the RECKONING. Now governors will feel INSPIRED to balance their state budgets by giving the unions a nice haircut. In addition to that, union membership in Wisconsin has FALLEN since Governor Walker made it OK NOT TO BE FORCED to pay union dues. Remember, the union would forcibly take its dues directly out of paychecks. It seems that a large amount of union members have decided that they are better equipped to decide how to spend their money, rather than sending it to union bosses who then spend the money on democrat campaigns. Nice job democrats! You destroyed the very thing you were out to protect, and have likely turned a blue-state, RED!
First off, I must say that I don’t agree with every little point of Ayn Rand and her philosophy. General Patton had a saying that if two people agreed all of the time, one of them is unnecessary. I am a firm believer in my Saviour Jesus Christ. Since I am not a liberal, I can disagree with Ayn Rand on this matter and still find her others views to be both relevant and insightful. As a disclaimer, I am sitting down typing this with my “Who is John Galt” t-shirt on, while my van in the driveway has an “I am John Galt” bumper sticker on it. Now, let us get down to business.
I have heard the wacky liberals scream that Ayn Rand was a hypocrite for denouncing the social welfare programs of the United States, even while she took home a social security check. Why does this matter? The government, for years, forcibly removed social security money out of her paycheck. Why is she not entitled to have the money that was taken from her against her will returned to her? Anyone, anyone? That is what I thought, no answer to this simple question from any of the “great liberal thinkers” out there. Her ideas for a free-enterprise system completely free of government interference is exactly what the United States needs to once again reclaim our seat as the head producer of all things. Ideas, inventions, new techniques, unbridled freedom, all can be easily attained if the reach of government was less restrictive.
How about her views on individualism? The rugged individual is, in fact, what made this country great. As she points out in her novels, our Founding Father’s were the living embodiment of individualism. Only as individuals can we all truly be free. If I am constantly led to fight battles to hold other people from drowning in their own mistakes, how do they learn to better themselves, and how do I keep from being brought down with them? The liberals believe that I should give my talent and drive for the benefit of those who do not have, or do not wish to have my talents. I own three business ventures, and I employ many people. They help me, and I help them. We work together through good times and bad. I am not cold-hearted, I merely want to keep what is mine: my ideas, the fruits of my labor, and my self-respect. This is hard to do when at every turn, I face those who have decided it is easier to collect welfare, or some other form of government assistance, instead of putting down their PS3, and getting a job.
It doesn’t matter what the liberals believe about Ayn Rand and Atlas Shrugged. You can believe in your mind that you are bullet-proof, but I promise you, a bullet will still kill you. The liberals can think Atlas Shrugged a fantasy written by some wack-job who wanted to kill those, or let those who were less able die. They can believe that she was the anti-christ (though I find that hard to believe since that would mean they believe in God, which I think is contrary to what most liberals believe, given their stance on social issues which directly contradict Biblical teaching). My point is, what Ayn wrote about in Atlas Shrugged is very real, you can in fact, see it all around you. The smoke can be seen rising from our economic ashes, an economy killed by over-regulation in some areas (forcing banks to make loans who can not pay them back, thanks President Carter), to Obama’s recital of Fair Shake, Fair Deal, Fair Shot. What the liberals can not grasp is that we need less government inteference to have that Fair Shake, Fair Deal, and Fair Shot. By the way, isn’t the President a rather wealthy individual? Why doesn’t he give some of that money away to the hordes of people who now rely on government hand-outs?
If someone breaks into your house and says, “I’m going to kill you!”, what is the compromise? He wants you dead, and you want to live. There is no middle-ground, no safe position between these two extremes.
To put it another way, “You can’t be a little pregnant”. It is either all, or nothing. Completely one way, or completely the opposite.
I have heard it said a million times that compromise on the deficit is the only way we can accomplish our goals. I have heard it said that liberals and republicans must “meet in the middle” in order to forge ahead with any meaningful legislation to curb our out-of-control spending binge in Washington.
I completely disagree. Compromise with the liberals created this mess. Liberals wanted everyone to be able to afford a house, not just those who saved and were able to put down a 20% down-payment. That turned out well for us, didn’t it? Zero-down mortgages and interest only loans that stank so bad, the banks had to bundle them up and sell them off as fast as possible. But wait, it gets worse.
I read a story the other day about women having babies for the sole purpose of obtaining more state financial and food aid. Are you kidding me? Why does anyone go to work? Why don’t we all stay at home and get government help? Where is the incentive to achieve, to prosper, to reach for something great? Is individualism dead in the United States? Are all the optometrists in the USA retired? You need only look to France, Greece, and Spain to see the path that the runaway nanny-state leads to.
I am so disgusted by the 99 percenters who lack ambition, drive, self-worth, self-esteem and a basic desire to contribute to society. Instead, they only wish to suck off of those of us who pay taxes and struggle to survive.
So it is no wonder they believe that their favorite welfare and nanny-state projects can be paid for indefinately with money that evolves from nothing. They love to give away stuff that is not theirs. They love to take from the producer and give to the lazy. Why do we have so many people in this society who think that there IS such a thing as a free lunch? Simple, we stopped teaching self-reliance and self-esteem in schools long ago. We have instilled a desire not to achieve, but to mooch. How much can I get for nothing is the question that too many wake up asking themselves every morning.
My father owned a grocery store in southern California. He had to take deliveries seven days a week, often in the wee hours of the morning. It was just part of the job. It had to be done, but it fed our family and allowed us a great standard of living. Today, kids see these rap artists in Mercedes and BMW’s and say hey, who is going to give that to me? How can I find the quickest short-cut to making big bucks? Sometimes, actually often times, you need to work for it. Working for it does not imply that you start at the top. It means you start at the bottom and attain skills and knowledge. You then use those skills and knowledge to surround yourself with the tools for your ultimate success. The youth who are in the OWS movement should not be bitching about the fact that they are the 99%, they should be using their brains to figure out how to become the 1%!
With six months to go until the general election, Mitt Romney has plenty of time to prepare for his new job. All over the place we hear rumblings in the dinosaur media of how Barack will kick Mitt’s butt. I beg to differ. With unemployment at ridiculous levels, Obamacare set to be ruled unconstitutional, Occupy protesters trying to blow up bridges, and a whole host of other disasters going on, I just can’t see Obama having a chance at re-election.
No President has ever been in office with such a mountain of crap staring down at him. The anniversary of Bin Laden’s killing turned out to be a political hot-potatoe for President Obama when he painfully tried to use it as a showing of what a great commander he is. Even the members of the military are crying foul on that one. There really is nothing President Obama won’t do to get re-elected, but I think his time in office is running out!
We all know, and even the freeloaders among us know, that there is no such thing as a free lunch. I am calling on this nation to here and now, declare that the era of something for nothing is over.
I know that the unemployed are in a terrible spot. Our President has instituted a state of fear that has kept companies from hiring and consumers from buying. Despite this, we must face the fact that too few among us are producing a good or service. This, in turn, means that there are fewer and fewer people paying into the tax coffers, and more people on the government handout list. This simply can not continue.
Here is my bold idea. If a person is getting unemployment benefits, make them earn it. I say that we make the unemployed work for their unemployment benefits. Calling in once a week to say I could not find a job does NOT qualify as work. So, here is the simple solution. If you are getting ANY government assistance while you are unemployed, then the government will provide you with a job to earn those benefits. The job can range from painting park benches, to picking up trash along the side of the road. The job itself does not matter, the point is, those who are getting a check without producing anything of value will now be earning it! If this is done, you will quickly find that a great many of the unemployed will suddenly find work! I mean, if you can get paid for playing video games for 99 weeks, why wouldn’t you? Our nanny-state mindset has rewarded those who don’t care to have a job. If however, we make the unemployed clean bathrooms, or mow lawns, or make license plates, the unemployed would say, this job SUCKS! I want a real job! Problem solved!
If you are like me, you scan a few websites each day, putting your ear to the ground to see what is likely to happen in November. Everyday, I hear stories of the great economic turnaround and how the housing crisis is coming to an end. I hear of the self destruction of the Republican party and how not a single one of the Republicans could take Obama down.
Is $4.5 trillion in new debt something that instills a sense of confidence. This new debt comes from a president that promised to slash the national debt during his first term. Is Obama’s ability to read a teleprompter an indication of clear victory in November? Is $3.55 gas in FEBRUARY a good sign for the Yes We Can man? How is that Iranian thing working out for you, Mr. President? Egypt is looking pretty sexy in her new Muslim Brotherhood garb. Who knows you helped to unleash in Libya.
I have gone to several political planning sessions and rallies in the last few months. I have finally decided to get involved in the political process before Obama can completely destroy all that America stands for. I have seen, first hand, a tidal wave of enourmous proportion building over the heads of democrats everywhere. The media machines, run by the Democrats, for the Democrats, are running these stories to cause you conservatives to lose hope. Don’t bite the apple! The media knows that their chosen one is in deep. Like, need an earth-mover type of deep. Then again, just as Nancy Pelosi famously believed on Election Day 2010 that she would remain Speaker, perhaps the Democrats are as out-of-touch as they like to claim the Republicans are.
This much I will tell you, I think Obama is headed for a complete and total surprise come election day. I do believe that he thinks he is above all of us minions. He knows best for us all, and he knows that we know that he is the best thing for us. He will be very surprised as the election results start to pour in, and America will breathe a huge sigh of relief!
When I was in school, we had a holiday for President Lincoln and President Washington. Tragically, someone in the realm of the politically correct decided to combine these into one holiday. Some say this was to give Martin Luther King Jr. a holiday, others simply say that we should recognize all of the men who held the highest office in the land.
Well, why would we want to do that? George Washington certainly deserves a holiday of his own. After all, he led a rag-tag group of warriors to fight for our independence against overwhelming odds with little help from the Continental Congress. He led our country as President, and stepped down after two terms to set a precedent that all President’s followed, until FDR.
Speaking of FDR, why should we give him any special recognition? The man ran around on his wife, stretched out the Great Depression for a dozen years, and was power hungry enough to ignore all precedents and run for four terms in office. Running around on your wife is reason enough to not celebrate the time FDR spent in office. Neither is keeping America in a horrible depression due to a total and complete lack of macroeconomics. Let’s move on……
How about Woodrow Wilson. He strengthed labor unions, championed the Progressive Movement, and actively tried to squash anti-war movements. I personally think that our involvement in WWI was late in coming, thanks largely to Woodrow, “I Kept Us Out of the War” Wilson. But, don’t you think it is funny that he tried so hard to keep us out of war, yet once it came he tried to silence the opponents of that war? Wow! Don’t forget, he laid down the basic points of the armistice that ended World War One. We all know that those terms allowed the rise of Adolf Hitler and the birth of the WWII. As if that weren’t bad enough, he was a major proponent of the League of Nations. It, like the United Nations of today, was a powerless, impotent body of self-serving idiots who can’t see that useless sanctions and letters of reprimand accomplish nothing. So much for good-ole Woodrow…..
How about a peanut farmer. Until recently, Jimmy Carter held the rank of the worst President of the United States. He single-handedly gave us the situation that we face today in Iran through his weak leadership and wimpy stance on hard issues. What would we expect from a pig, but a grunt? He was kind enough to give us rampant inflation, high gas prices, and 21 percent interest rates. Yeah, we should certainly pour praise on that man!
Do I even need to mention Obama? The guy couldn’t find a birth certificate for three years, and when he did, it was from a state that lets you get one by filling out a form that simply makes you promise you were born there. If you can’t find your birth certificate, you probably can’t run a country. Probably, I meant definately. We can see that Obama also, like most other ultra-liberals before him, has no economic knowledge at all. Tax the rich, give more to people who don’t contribute to the federal coffers, blame everything on anyone but yourself. Yep, Obama is a heck of a great leader. Being the liberal/socialist that he is, God probably doesn’t enter into his thought process much. This is easily born out by the fact that he has attended church less in three years than I have so far this year. But he could use a little bit of God’s help. Although, I don’t think God was particularly keen on the kind of hate that rose up from the church that Obama attended with “Reverend Wright”.
So you see, maybe we should just go back to the times of remembering Lincoln and Washington.
As I write this blog, they still have not caught the evil person who took two lives earlier today. It is because of evil acts like this that I choose to get a concealed carry permit. Unfortunately, even if I had been right in front of the shooter, I would not have been able to do anything. First of all, Virginia does not recognize the concealed carry permit my state issues. This needs to change, it should be reciprocal just like a drivers license. Second, guns are not allowed on school property. A Virginia permit holder may have his or her gun with them only in a school parkinging lot. In other words, only if you are dropping off or picking up a student.
So, how did this shooting, and the one in 2007 that claimed 33 lives happen? If guns are not allowed on school property, how did a gun get on school property? The answer is simple. Criminals DO NOT CARE THAT THE LAW PROHIBITS FIREARMS ON SCHOOL CAMPUSES! In fact, that very law is probably WHY shootings occur at schools in the first place. Bad guys can look at the law and see a nice list of places where they can go kill people where concealed carry permit holders, such as myself, will not be there to stop them. For the love of all that is holy, you liberals need to understand that law abiding citizens should have more rights then the bad guys do. Not many people want to die. Not even the scum that carried out this horrendous act today. They want to get away with it. If they knew that there was a good possibility that somebody around them might be carrying a gun, they may have a moment of pause before opening fire. The sooner that the gun-hating left grips that little piece of reality, the better off our country will be!
UPDATE: The sicko gunman shot himself! No money spent on a trial, and no money spent on feeding him three squares a day!
Well, I always like to hear stories like this where lawful gun owners use their Second Amendment rights to keep and bear arms. In this case a woman is awakened at 4AM to discover someone is trying to break into her house. The woman calls 911 and in a moment of clarity remembers she just bought a .38! I would grab the .38 first and then call 911, but hey, that is just me! Anyways, she shoots two warning shots, and still the man crawls into her home. Once inside, she shoots him two times and the career criminal starts his long decent to room temperature.
Now, here is my problem. If you listen to the 911 call, the operator is asking the woman, “what are you arming yourself with?” Clearly, the operator was not listening, because the woman had already told her “I am going to grab the .38 I just bought”. Then, as the man is physically coming through the window, the operator makes an impassioned plea for the woman NOT to shoot the intruder. The operator states that she has officers VERY NEAR the scene (from her plea you would assume on the property). In reality, they are not even in her block when the man gains entry to the home. In horror, the woman shoots the man. Like all decent people, nobody wants to shoot a human being, not even an evil or bad one. When he falls to the ground she is horrified at what she had to do, but in the end, she was not raped, beat or tortured.
Being that this happened in California, I thought the fact that she was able to buy a gun fascinating! I thought all of the ultra liberals who destroyed that great state probably took away gun ownership rights as an amendment to some budget bill. Well, I pray for the woman who took those brave actions that she may find peace with what she had to do. She made a decision not to be a victim and for that, she deserves praise. Sometimes doing the right thing has consequences and no doubt this weighs heavy on her. Now I am cold-hearted and mean, so I would sleep well knowing that it was him or me. Use the link below for the news story.
Well here we are at the beginning of December and the Occupy Wall Street movement is beginning to disintegrate. I find it very interesting that these occupiers feel that they can protest something without a basic understanding of history and its consequences. Take for example, the Taliban. Now, over in Afghanistan the Taliban would wait to launch offensives until the weather was more favorable. Now here in New York and cities across the country, we see the Occupy Wall Street movement disintegrate due to weather. Well, not only weather, but also to the fact that their message was nonexistent, incoherent, and severely misguided. Apparently these protesters are not so dedicated to their message when the weather fails to cooperate.
About a month ago I read several articles that noted the irony of the Occupy Wall Street movement. Remember how one of their messages was that they were the 99%? Their message, if I can even comprehend it, is that they were the majority of Americans. Somehow put upon, held down, and squashed by banks and brokerage firms. The articles I read stated how in actuality, all Americans are part of the 1%. That is to say that each and every American regardless of their income level lives better than 99% of the worlds population. Here again, we find that the Occupy Wall Street movement has no concept of history or facts.
Did you know that at Occupy Wall Street movements across the country, there were at least 372 incidents of sexual assault? Did you know that at many Occupy encampments women were encouraged not to report sexual assaults to authorities? Finally, there were a number of murders/deaths reported as well.
All of this makes me very glad to be a conservative Republican, and a proud supporter of many Tea-Party candidates. At least there is one thing the bleeding-heart liberals can’t deny, there were no rapes or murders at any Tea Party rallies. So long occupy Wall Street, thank God, we hardly knew you!
Yet again President Obama delivers a speech that is utterly incomprehensible. From what I can find online, various organizations estimate Barack Obama’s IQ to be between 125 and 145. Mine tested out at 145. If his IQ is 125, then his IQ runs 20 points behind mine, obviously, if his IQ is 145 it is the same as mine. So, let me posit a few questions:
If President Obama has an IQ of 125, then he is a full 20 points behind me. This does not seem fair to me. Why would my IQ be 145, when I only graduated from a public high school? Maybe, if life was fair, I would have been given a handout so that I could attend Harvard or Columbia. I certainly don’t blame Harvard or Columbia for your 20 point IQ deficit, but it does make me wonder. Then of course, we have the other side of the coin. Let us say that your IQ is 145, the same as mine. I do not know how you paid for college. Perhaps you paid for college by taking out some student loans, perhaps you were awarded a free ride, or perhaps your parents put you through college. Does it seem fair to you that after spending all that money on college that your IQ should be 20 points behind mine?
Is it fair that 40% of Americans pay no federal income tax? Is it fair that my dad died of brain cancer when I was 18 years old? Is it fair to us taxpayers that some of our tax revenue supports organizations that perform abortions? Is it fair that the unemployment rate in the United States is 8.6%? Is it fair that that number is actually closer to 17% when you account for those who’ve stopped looking for work, or are underemployed? Finally, is it fair that you are going to Hawaii at taxpayer expense, eating food provided for you at taxpayer expense and no doubt hitting the golf course, while so many Americans are struggling just to make ends meet? What, I ask you is fair about that?
You see Mr. President, what you have never been able to comprehend is that life is anything but fair. The only thing in life that is fair is that if you wake up in the morning, you can decide how to face the challenges that life throws at you.
Here is my take. Whether Mr. Obama has an IQ of 80, 100, or 180 he still seems unable to grasp the most basic concepts of life as a human being. I’ve got news for you Mr. President, not all men and women are created equal. Some are born without arms and legs, some with debilitating ailments, and others with extraordinary talents. There is nothing fair about it, but that is the way life is. No matter how much you try, you will never be able to make everything fair for everyone. If you wish to be fair to America as a whole, then work to get people a job. Not a government job, a private sector job. This is the one and only path to prosperity. Just thought I would share a friendly tip in case your IQ isn’t quite as high as mine.
Thank you Sheriff Wright!
We all expect and almost always get the truth from the law enforcement community. This week Sheriff Wright, spoke the truth, but not in the usual place. We expect the truth in filed reports, statements to the press as they relate to cases and captures, but not always on subjects as touchy as this.
I don’t believe the subject is touchy or sensitive at all. Sheriff Wright merely stated that women should get training, obtain a firearm and protect themselves. Ding, ding, ding, we have a winner. This is an obvious truth, what is astonishing is who spoke the truth and how plainly. Left-wing anti-gun nuts are up in arms because a law enforcement official came down on the side of the Second Amendment. Oh my, a law enforcement official, sworn to uphold the law, recommended that women use the law to defend themselves! Certainly upscale coffee houses, filled with $5.00 a cup lefties, will be roaring with the nonsensical argument that this sheriff is out of his mind promoting vigilante justice. That is NOT what the sheriff is promoting. No one has the right to take the law into their own hands, but you do have the right to protect yourself and your loved ones.
Thanks Sheriff Wright, I don’t live in your jurisdiction, but if it is legal you’ll be getting a donation from a ton of out of state supporters when you are up for re-election!
Akhenaten, Hatshepsut and Barack Obama. What in the world do they have in common?
In the Pharaonic times of ancient Egypt, the rulers came and went, lived and died with little or no say of the people. However, after death, the next ruler, or sometimes the next ruler at the behest of the populace would “remove” a pharaoh from the official list of kings. In the Egyptian society, this basically deprived the individual of an afterlife.
Akhenaten suffered this as a result of his stripping the nation of it’s long held polytheistic religion, in favor of the worship of the sun-disc. He believed the sun to represent the only true God. In this way, history records him as among the earliest monotheists. After his death, his statues were destroyed, his new capital city abandoned, and a vibrant attempt was made to erase the “mistake” that was Akhenaten. Obama in his ignorance, has tried to strip America of her capitalist economic system in favor of wealth redistribution, which history has shown to always, oooops, I mean NEVER work!
Hatshepsut was the stepmother of Thutmoses III. Because Thutmoses was a young boy at the time of his fathers death, Hatshepsut ruled as co-regent with him. However, she liked power and when Thutmoses III was of proper age to take his rightful place as pharaoh, Hatshepsut struggled to maintain power. She even went so far as to wear a fake beard and dress like a male pharaoh. When she died, her monuments and statues were defaced, just like Akhenaten.
Here in America, we have only ourselves to blame for our modern day Akhenaten. We (not me) voted in Obama despite knowing he is a rabid socialist. Despite knowing he is friends with Bill Ayers. Despite knowing that he got a sweet deal on a mortgage that is crooked six ways to Sunday. Despite knowing that he would fill his cabinet with people like Van Jones. When America corrects her greatest presidential mistake in 2012, it would be wonderful to practice revisionist history as the left so oftens indulges in. We could simply compile our list of President’s and thoughtfully skip the entries for Jimmy Carter and Barack Obama. We could erase their name from the record, but would that help fix the destruction they wrought?
I can’t say that I am surprised. Looking at all the banners shown on television with the pro-communist messages. Thankfully, I have a great idea for dealing with these out-of-control mobs:
First, all of the protesters should sign a petition stating their demands and what it is they are hoping to achieve. With this list, all of us “greedy corporations” can compile a who NEVER to hire hot-sheet to be distributed around the country. I don’t want any communists, Marxists, or socialists working for me EVER! This will give them the equality they seek, that of being unemployed. They can all remain unemployed and do what socialists do best, suck off the system paid for by the very corporations they seek to bring down.
How many of you saw the ignorant African-American teacher from the Los Angeles school district who said the Jews were behind this inequality and should be removed from this country. I never knew there was such a thing as a black female Nazi, but southern California has one in the classroom teaching children! What an awesome assembly of people with great ideas for our nations future, and they have infiltrated our schools. If anyone in California had any sense, that teacher would be removed immediately. There is no doubt in my mind that her ability to teach without bias is non-existent.
According to the their own description on the OccupyWallSt.org site, their aim is a revolution in this country in the model of the Arab Spring. Ok, let us take a closer look at this. In the Arab Spring, the dictators were overthrown. I would say, not a bad thing, I don’t care that Egypt’s Mubarak and Colonel Quack in Libya got ousted. However, they want a “revolution” here as well, which means the overthrow of the American government! That is a treasonous position which should be taken very seriously.
In the United States of America, law and order applies to everyone, including those protesters who have illegally camped in their so called “Liberty Square”. The park rules clearly state no tents, camping, sleeping bags, etc. Are they following the rules, of course not. In this regard, they are the 1%. The rules don’t apply to them because they are on a misguided mission to change the world into a socialist, communist, marxist utopia, take your pick.
The second step must be the removal of the OccupyWallStreet protesters from their illegal encampments. They have a right to protest and have their voices heard, but not by protesting without permits where required by law. Nor do they have the right to occupy public or private parks rendering them trash heaps and unusable by the common taxpayer whose money goes to maintaining those parks. Why they are out protesting and defecating on cars and performing other lewd acts, I am paying my taxes contributing to their welfare checks!
The police need to enforce the laws, removing these protesters by measured force. No one should be hurt, or killed. That being said, they must be removed. Law and order requires it. The Occupy Wall Street movement needs to take a basic American civics class, we change things in America via the Democratic voting process. Taking a crap on a police car, is not part of the process, but it is a telling view into the mind of these morons down in this new movement.
In closing, those of you in the Occupy Wall Street movement need to travel to the White House and park yourselves there for a few months. The bailouts that you are protesting about are the result of the current administration. The fact that you can’t get a job is a direct result of the fear that us greedy corporations feel due to our overwhelming distrust of this administration. In short, the “Hope and Change” you voted for is here and elections have consequences. Thankfully, a peaceful and law-abiding revolution will take place at the ballot boxes in November 2012. I am counting the days!
This particular entry won’t be a rant on any particular Second amendement attack. No, this is going to be a nice little review of my various long guns and side arms.
First, my dad left me an old Marlin 22 bolt action rifle. It can always be counted on to shoot straight and true. It is missing the rear sight and the stock has a crack in it, but I’ll fix it soon to be good as new. After over sixty years, I can depend on her without question.
Next is my favorite sidearm, my Sturm-Ruger KP90 45 ACP. If ever there was a pistol that fired whenever called upon, this is it. You guys can spend the extra dough on S&W or Glock, but I’ll stick with my Ruger. The KP90 is a BIG pistol, not a good match for those with smallish hands. My wife handles it just fine, though she is almost six feet tall. Very little recoil and the accuracy is amazing. Not a jam or misfire yet!
My wife sports a Ruger SR9c. This compact 9mm is an absolute blast. The fit and finish of the gun is first-rate, as is the accuracy of the gun. It is no wonder why so many people look to the SR9c to be their choice for lawful concealed carry.
Hickok45′s Review of the Ruger SR9C
Next is my Ruger Mini-14 Tactical. I still need to deck it out with a scope, but I can already put a bullet in the eyes of a standard law enforcement target from 75 yards, so for personal defense, I think I’m OK without the scope. I’ll probably add an ACOG or a red dot sight in the future. Maybe a grip pod as well, who knows!
Last week I picked up the tried and true Ruger 10/22 stainless. I picked up the 25 round magazine for some extra fun at the target range. I did put a scope on it zeroed at 100 yards. All I can say is WHOA! The accuracy is not measurable with existing technology. I picked the paper target with the perp holding a hostage and was able to empty my magazine into the perp with not a single miss. For those of you wanting a reliable and accurate 22 autoloader, run down and pick up a Ruger 10/22 in any of the various models. You will not be dissappointed!
Hickok45′ Ruger 10/22 Review
Everyone needs a revolver for old-times sake! To fill that role we have a Smith and Wesson 38 Special revolver. I like the way it shoots, straight and true. However, it needs a date with a gunsmith because unless I cock the pistol the hammer does not drive forward with enough force to ignite the round. Sounds like a bad spring to me, but I just shoot’em, I can’t fix’em!
Finally picked up the Ruger LC9 for concealed carry. Wow, the recoil takes some getting used to! There is quite a kick in a 9mm in a frame that small. Even with the recoil, I am very confident that anyone seeking to harm me or my family will be surprised in a very unpleasant way should I ever need it! Now I just need to find a holster that I like and I’ll be good to go. Though I must admit it fits in my pocket just fine at the moment.
Added a new “friend” to my collection, a new Ruger SR40c. The Ruger SR9c that my wife has is such a great gun, I had to get the 40 and see if it was indeed the smoothest shooting 40 S&W on the market. Well, I am happy to report that it has very little recoil and is a pleasure to shoot. All of those reviews speaking of the reduced recoil were not just kool-aid drinkers after all! If you want something slightly bigger than the 9mm, pick up the new Ruger SR40c. It is one heck of a great gun!
Herman Cain must be the most in-touch candidate currently in the running for president in 2012. As a business owner I can tell you that a rock solid tax plan like 9-9-9 would allow me to plan for my company’s future and add some jobs to boot! Uncertainty kills job creation. Obamacare in and of itself is the current job killing mechanism of the current economic climate. A close second would be the US tax code which is over 55,000 pages long. No wonder I have to spend so much money on my accounting firm every year!
If we just went to Mr. Cain’s plan, there would be no guesswork, no loopholes for those who can afford the best or slimiest accountants. It would truly be a fair tax. As of this day 45% of Americans pay NO federal income tax. Despite this well known fact, Obama wants the top 10% of wage earners who already pay 69.94% of federal income taxes to pay even more. Where is the fair shake in that Mr. President? Let’s convert to the 9-9-9 plan and watch the cash come rolling into the treasury!
For those of you who don’t know the gist of the 9-9-9 plan, here it is. The current federal income tax code is scrapped. In place of it is a tax system centered around a 9% personal income tax, a 9% corporate income tax and finally a 9% national sales tax. Period, that is the plan. No more Medicare and Social Security deductions, it is all in the 9% you remit. Obviously the plan is as fair as can be. All year long you will know exactly what your tax situation will be without having to consult your accountant. Best of all, the national sales tax will bring in added revenue from the shady characters in our society who work “off the books”. Whenever they buy something, they will pay the sales tax. As of this moment those drug dealers and other less than desirable people pay nothing to Uncle Sam in the way of income tax.
I believe that Mr Cain has some provisions to help the poorest Americans cope with this new tax change. However the reality is very clear. We can’t fund government services for all of the freeloaders if only half of Americans are paying taxes. It is just simple math! Thanks Mr. Cain, I am behind you all the way!
When I first heard this reference, I laughed. Could Obama really be that bad? Did I really expect Obama to rocket to the top of the Worst American President’s list?
I must admit, I was not a comfortable soul on election day 2008. I didn’t care for John McCain, who was at least, a known quantity. I did vote for him, but I felt that the race for the top job was between a democrat (John McCain) and an ultra-left wing socialist. Well, people took the hope and change and in marched President Obama. How a man with no experience, and who had an annoying habit of voting “present” in the US Senate was elected to the highest office in the land is beyond me. It makes me think that people should have to take a political science exam before being allowed to vote. (Boy, I hear you liberals screaming already)! Seriously, Obama had no birth certificate at the time, no college transcripts, and admits he got elevated in life due to affirmative action. I would prefer a President who got somewhere in life based on his or her talents and/or merits instead of affirmative action. Of course most people were spell-bound by his wonderful public speaking abilities until we found out that he has no abilities without a teleprompter. Some people voted for Barack because he was black, which is just as racist as not voting for him because he is black. My question is, was it more important to have a black president than it was to rescue the country from the deep economic troubles it was facing?
I guess the answer was yes. No one who looked into Obama’s background with an objective viewpoint could think this man could run a country, let alone get one out of a near depression. That requires someone who has created jobs. Obama never created a job. Obama never had to meet payroll, remit payroll taxes, sales taxes, business property taxes, workmen’s comp fees, FUTA taxes, etc. He never had a chance. They say those who can can, and those who can’t teach. I guess the college professors who taught Obama proved that mantra to be true.
Now, in late September of 2011 we can clearly see that no amount of government stimulus will cause a meaningful long-term growth pattern for our country. If we believe that President Obama is a smart individual, then we should acknowledge the fact that he should realize his socialist policies have failed. In his own interest (that of saving his job next year) he should change course towards helping the private sector. To turn us around Obama would need to embrace a jobs plan that is embraced by those who create jobs… the private sector. Unless you are Solyndra, General Motors or Chrysler, Obama doesn’t care much for the private sector. It looks as though Obama will follow Carter into history as a one-term president and deservedly so. Together they can spar for the top spot on the notorious list of the worst American president’s.
To end on a lighter note, Herman Cain is rising to the top-tier of Republican candidates. If he winds up being the nominee, I will be an enthusiastic supporter. Not because he is black, but because he has the ability.
Let me start out by saying I don’t blame any one person or party for the economic mess that we find ourselves in at this particular moment. The recession of 2007 started due to certain fair housing laws, enacted by and pushed for by members of the democratic party going all the way back to the Carter administration. Right before leaving office President Carter issued an executive order to ostensibly help the government better enforce fair housing laws stemming from the 1968 Civil Rights Act. Then, of course there was the 1977 Housing and Community Development Act which lowered the standards borrowers had to meet in order to qualify for a home loan. The language in these laws was supposed to abolish the practice of charging minorities a higher interest rate, or forcing a shorter repayment schedule. That is fair enough, no one should be singled out because of those factors. The problem is that lenders soon began making risky loans in order to comply with these laws. The perfectly predictable result was a high foreclosure rate. Banks took a bath, investors who bought the worthless mortgages were sunk, and big brokerage firms went belly-up. Thus, we find ourselves here, with a combined unemployment / underemployment rate around 14%.
Since many Americans have some strange aversion to saving their money, we find ourselves in an economic morass. Why? When the housing values dropped due to the flood of foreclosures, most American families found themselves underwater on their houses. Many Americans use the equity in their homes to remodel, buy cars or RVs or otherwise purchase items they want, but rarely need. Consumers buying stuff accounts for over two-thirds of our economy. When the home values went down, people became concerned about paying down their debt and they also found themselves unable to borrow equity that no longer existed. The result: where we are today. Companies are simply not hiring because there is a weak underlying demand for goods and services. But that is only one reason.
Even if things were a little more rosy, businesses are going to avoid hiring until Obamacare is repealed either by law, or by the Supreme Court. If the Supreme Court gets the chance at it, I believe without doubt that there are many grounds under which it will be found unconstitutional. If the Supreme Court upholds Obamacare, the next Congress and President will surely repeal it. Only then will we see companies begin the process of hiring again. Companies like to know what their costs will be in the future for certain items, Obamacare is the great unknown.
In the mean time, let us get back to the good-ole days where you needed to put down 20% on your home in order to get a mortgage. No more of these zero down home mortgages, no more loans with no income verification, and let’s get rid of Fannie and Freddie while we are at it!
This idea is sure to catch me a load of flack. However, I think it is a great idea. I have read that in several states, programs have been initiated whereby certain individuals in the prison population are being afforded the priviledge of training puppies. The dogs learn basic obedience training in preparation for being transfered to their forever homes. So far as I understand, the inmates EARN the priviledge of working with these animals. The inmates themselves benefit from extra time outside of their cells, as well as the obvious benefit of interaction with animals that love unconditionally. In short, the program has benefits for the dogs, as well as the inmates.
Did you here that? It is none other than my controversial idea knocking at the door! So, here is my idea. We all know that China is eating our economic lunch by manipulating their currency and paying labor rates which are far below those of the Unites States. So, my proposal is this: Let us come up with a partnership between private enterprise and the public prison system.
This partnership would work something like this:
American companies that are not able to build products here in America because of high labor rates can use inmate labor to produce their products. I don’t personally believe in a minimum wage, but let us say we pay the inmate minimum wage. This wage would be split into two equal parts, half going to the inmate in some sort of savings account that they get upon their release from prison. The other half goes to the prison to compensate the state for the cost of the inmates incarceration. The private companies would be responsible for building the factories in or near the prison complex, with the prison staff maintaining law and order within the factory.
The great part about this plan is that EVERYBODY wins! The inmate gets an eight hour day out of his or her cell. The private company gets labor at a vastly reduced rate. The state gets reimbursed for some of the costs associated with the incarceration of the inmate. In addition, the inmate will have a nice nest egg set aside when they are released from prison at the conclusion of their sentence. Another bonus is the fact that the inmate will learn valuable skills that can be put to work when they re-enter society. Lastly, the state and federal government will get witholding taxes from the inmate’s paycheck. So, under this plan the inmate will transform from someone who is a monetary drain on society to someone who is a productive member of society, all while still serving his or her prison sentence.
I already hear the screaming! No, I am not talking about slave labor camps, let the inmates try out for this work program. In most states they receive no monetary benefits from working with the dogs they are training. They just get some extra time out of their cell and the satisfaction of making a difference. In this plan, they will help themselves financially, get out of their cell, learn a vocation, contribute to society, and help defray the costs of their time in prison. What could make more sense?
